Your Role on the Team
As the Senior Controller or Director of Finance, you will be integral to our finance team, reporting to the CFO and Head of Business Operations. You will be assigned a career advisor/manager for support. Your role will evolve to replace our current CFO in senior staff and executive strategy meetings, and potentially step into board reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Master Verdigris' business, financial systems, and market intricacies
  • Ensure fiscal integrity and enhance financial controls and systems for high predictability and trust
  • Manage financial reporting and stakeholder communication with a 'no surprises' approach, ensuring transparency and foresight in all financial matters
  • Lead accounting and financial system innovations
  • Oversee budgeting, financial planning, and performance metrics
  • Collaborate in formulating and executing strategic financial objectives
  • Foster relationships with financial institutions; oversee treasury and capital raising
  • Assure regulatory compliance and contract negotiations
  • Represent finance in executive strategy meetings and possibly board reporting

Required Qualifications

  • Broad and Deep Financial Experience. You should possess a wide-ranging and in-depth understanding of finance and operations as a senior financial manager, particularly within a high-tech company.
  • Startup Experience. Prior involvement in startup environments is crucial, showcasing your adaptability and innovative mindset in fast-paced settings.
  • Hands-On Approach. A commitment to high standards in both quality and quantity of work. You should be a highly motivated, disciplined self-starter.
  • Years of Experience. Minimum of 7+ years in a similar role, preferably in a high-tech startup environment.
  • Educational Background. Bachelor's or Master’s degree in business, finance, or related field. CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Interpersonal Skills. Exceptional communication skills and business acumen.
  • Collaborative Spirit. Highly motivated, collaborative, and capable of contributing at all levels.

Demonstrated Expertise

  • Proficient in monthly financial reporting
  • In-depth knowledge of revenue recognition GAAP and its application
  • Skilled in financial planning and budgeting
  • Experienced in establishing and managing treasury services
  • Background in working with global companies and across time zones and cultures
  • Strong ongoing communication abilities
  • Familiar with regulatory compliance and audit support
  • Capable of delivering compelling financial presentations
  • Knowledge of 401(k) investment programs
  • Proficient in various accounting software applications

Nice to Haves

  • You are a proficient coder in at least one function scripting or programming language
  • You are proficient and experienced in modern finance/accounting automation tools
  • You enjoy operating across functions within a team
  • You can perform advanced problem solving and root cause analysis and can effectively communicate from those analyses
  • You are an expert at telling stories with data
  • You've led the finance function at hardware-enabled software businesses
  • You're current on CFIUS requirements and Technology export process and practices
  • You're experienced with IP Strategy, Technology Licensing and Joint Ventures
  • You've successfully worked with foreign government entities on collaboration, subsidies, requirements (e.g., Taiwan, China, Korea, Hong Kong, or Japan)
  • You have an advanced degree or professional certification in a financial field (CPA, CFA, MBA, MS Finance, etc.) from a globally recognized graduate program
  • You're experienced in our current finance/accounting software tool stack: Bill.com, Xero, Expensify, Salesforce, Google Sheets
  • You're an expert in various cash securities, investment strategies and asset management
  • You have reported to or served on corporate for-profit boards
