You thrive in a fast-paced, startup environment and are excited about the challenge of applying your electrical engineering skills to revolutionize the fashion industry. You're adaptable, detail-oriented, and eager to establish processes and structures in a growing startup.
What You'll Do
As our first Electrical Engineer, your core responsibility will be to refine, optimize, and deploy the electrical systems that power our Vega™ 3D weaving machines. You will work across multiple teams, with emphasis on firmware and mechanical engineering, to realize the world's first 3D woven products on the market. Your key responsibilities include:
- Designing and developing electronic assemblies, including PCB design and sensor integration, ensuring functionality, testability, reliability, and compliance with industry standards
- Developing and executing comprehensive test plans to improve machine reliability and reduce field failure rates
- Refining and optimizing current designs for manufacturability, with a focus on size constraints and reliability
- Establishing and documenting processes for electrical assembly design, manufacturing, and quality assurance as we scale production
- Collaborating closely with firmware and mechanical engineers to ensure seamless integration of hardware and software
- Conducting thorough testing, calibration, and failure analysis of electronic assemblies
- Managing vendor relationships for component sourcing
Ideal Qualities
- 5+ years of experience in electronic assembly design and testing, with a proven track record of deploying products in the field
- Strong experience in PCB design principles and design for manufacturability (DFM)
- Expertise in developing and executing comprehensive test plans
- Knowledge of industrial machine electrical design, including experience with CAN, motors, and industrial power systems
- Proficiency with wired and wireless communication, including test, analysis, and troubleshooting
- Experience with size-constrained designs and optimization
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a knack for hands-on debugging and prototyping
- Ability to establish processes and documentation in a startup environment
Bonus Points
- Familiarity with wire harness design and ability to read wiring diagrams
- Experience setting up electrical engineering labs/workshops
- Knowledge of manual board bring-up processes
- Understanding of sustainability practices in electronics design
- Experience working with small to medium volume production (tens to hundreds of units)
- Interest in fashion and apparel
We don't expect you to have all of the listed qualities. If you don't meet all the requirements but have a voracious passion for learning and are excited about our mission, we strongly encourage you to apply.
