Facilities Technician III – Painter

Based at SolAero by Rocket Lab in Albuquerque, New Mexico the Operations Painter Technician is responsible for facilities maintenance and painting. You will support the Facilities Manager and operations organization, with deliverables required for internal leadership, board of directors, and investors.

WHAT YOU’LL GET TO DO:

  • Paint to Rocket Lab color scheme large commercial building.
  • Prepare large surfaces, apply paint, add detail and clean up, and you may also be tasked with power washing.
  • Repair and prepare dry wall and other surfaces for painting.
  • Maintain paint and painting supply inventories. Catalogue paint colors nomenclature for future matching.
  • Identifies quality issues when they occur and participates in finding the solution to the issue.

YOU’LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS/Skills:

  • Ability to prepare surfaces and apply paint to walls and other surfaces using brushes, rollers and sprayers to both interior and exterior surfaces.
  • Ability to work at elevated levels from ladders, scissor lift, boom lift and roof levels. Operational experience using man-lift/boom lift to reach elevated surfaces is a must.
  • Respirator experience – must be clean shaven to wear respirator when job requires respirator.
  • Forklift experience a plus.
  • Work largely self-managed, needing minimal supervision.
  • Osha and/or safety training a plus.
  • Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions including drawing and print interpretation and application.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related commercial and/or industrial painting experience.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
