Life at Rocket Lab
About the role
Launching a rocket and operating satellites requires a symphony of multiple teams, multiple sites, and multiple complex systems working together towards mission success. Operations software helps bring this orchestra together by providing operators with timely, accurate and beautiful presentation of control and system states.
A Site Reliability Engineer works closely with the Operations Software Engineering team and is responsible for ensuring the reliability, availability, and performance of software systems used in Operations and Engineering. They collaborate with development and operations teams to design and maintain highly scalable and resilient systems. SREs implement monitoring and automation tools, troubleshoot incidents, and optimise system performance. Their goal is to minimise downtime, proactively address issues, and provide a seamless user experience.
An Engineer II has the scope to perform independent engineering as allocated and may have product ownership as a responsible engineer. Risk, cost or quality-based decisions are escalated or reviewed as part of the workflow from the judgement of the Engineer II.
