Position Summary

Plexium’s Biology group is seeking a highly motivated Senior Scientist to join a multidisciplinary team dedicated to the discovery of novel targeted protein degradation therapeutics. The candidate must have in-depth knowledge of cancer biology and experience with the characterization of small molecules in various cell-based assays. This is a hands-on position that requires an ability to be productive in a rapidly evolving environment. Responsibilities include target validation and mechanism of action studies, development of disease hypotheses/translational strategies, and supporting lead optimization. Ability to co-lead/lead drug discovery projects. Experience in designing and managing in vitro studies at CROs is preferred. The successful candidate will be an independent and motivated team player that is able to work closely with others to solve complex problems. Previous industry experience is required.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • PhD in cellular, molecular or cancer biology or related field, with relevant scientific experience in cancer biology and 5+ years of industry experience preferably on small molecule drug discovery
  • In-depth knowledge of cancer biology and signaling pathways regulating cancer cell growth
  • Demonstrated expertise in utilizing standard and cutting-edge technologies to design and execute mechanistic studies to inform target biology
  • Experience in developing translational strategies including patient selection, pharmacodynamics, mechanism of action/resistance, and clinically relevant biomarkers
  • Strong understanding of the drug discovery process and demonstrated experience leading and advancing drug discovery projects
  • Knowledge of protein degradation by the ubiquitin-proteasome system (UPS) preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities as direct manager of laboratory personnel
  • Work creatively, independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Demonstrated track record of accomplishments and publications in relevant subject matter
  • Outstanding complex problem solving, troubleshooting, prioritization and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $135,000-$170,000 + target annual bonus + equity + health and well-being benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by a number of factors, including but not limited to the role, location, job-related skills, and relevant education, experience and training. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire base salaries for the position across all US locations and vary by the location of the position. Our Talent Acquisition Team can share more about our salary ranges and other benefits of working at Plexium, which are not included in the posted base salary range.
