Position: Manufacturing Engineer
Location: Remote
We are looking for a dynamic bioprocess engineering expert to help optimize production across a network of CMO and own production facilities, instrumental in changing the future of agriculture. As a critical member of our Biomanufacturing team you will provide technical expertise in aseptic fermentation operations (and design), downstream processing (eg microfiltration, centrifugation, blending, packaging, etc.), sanitary design, control systems and bioprocessing best practices. With a passion for quality, environmental health, and safety (QEH&S), you will enhance a high performing team and develop best-in-class biotechnology products.
Responsibilities:
- Providing technical expertise to support all manufacturing unit operations
- Troubleshooting process deviations and developing improvement plans
- Leading/assisting with root cause analyses for process and/or product quality issues
- Achieving improvement goals and optimizing batch yields
- Managing capital projects
- Training and development of manufacturing staff (both internal and 3rd party CMOs)
- Developing process documentation such as SOPs, P&IDs, work instructions and training records
- Identifying improvement opportunities and contributing to OpEX and CapEx projects
- Developing a collaborating and trusting culture across CMO and own production sites
- Embodying a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence
Qualifications and Experience
- BS (Chemical or Bioprocess Engineering) and relevant technical experience
- 5+ years of experience in a biotechnology production environment with a proven track record of success
- Experience with troubleshooting and designing aseptic processes
- Experience with filtration and CIP/SIP systems
- Experience managing and executing capital projects
- Experience working with industrial/agricultural/or food fermentation products
- Experience working with freeze dried, or powder products preferred
- Must be willing to work night shifts and on weekends as needed
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. and ability to perform extensive work on a computer
- Ability travel to CMOs, equipment providers and other Pivot sites
