Job Overview
Mainspring is growing rapidly to scale up production rate. Quality is a crucial element to the success of our mission. The Manufacturing Quality Team is responsible for improving and ensuring product quality. The QA Inspector will be responsible for drafting incoming inspection plans, writing, testing and publishing CMM inspection programs. The successful candidate is highly organized and communicative, experienced with the use of CMM equipment and operating software, and thrives in a nimble fast-paced environment that includes both R&D and manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Produce revision controlled CMM Programs
  • Perform conformity inspection on incoming parts for production purpose.
  • Perform R&D part inspection and provide reports to Engineering.
  • Integrate Inspection results into data analytic tools
  • Document non-conforming records with the specific conformance acceptance condition that was not met
  • Help facilitating the Material Review Board (MRB) for disposition by Design Engineering
  • Provide dimensional results for MRB to make disposition decision
  • Review suppliers inspection results and provide support to R&D
  • Improve and maintain the inspection area and keep inspection equipment calibrated and certified.
  • Generate ideas on improving accuracy and precision of dimensional inspection
  • Refine and improve the conformance system by generating ideas with Quality Engineering
  • Help build Quality team’s reputation by providing facts and evidence to leadership
  • Provide guidance to less experienced Quality Technicians
  • Support internal and external audit

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years experience as a component QA inspector, using CMM equipment tools to inspect part dimensions in a fast paced and high growth environment (industrial and/or automotive a plus)
  • Knowledge and experience with manufacturing processes like CNC, casting, welding and metal fabrication
  • The position will require up to 10% travel to contract manufacturers and suppliers

Must-Have

  • You have effectively used geometric dimensioning and tolerancing ANSI Y14.5 to interpret manufacturing drawings and tolerance requirements to define the most effective measurement methods and tools.
  • Minimum 6 months experience using Zeiss Calypso software and strong knowledge with CMM programs in general and ability to program part inspection
  • You can thrive in structured and unstructured environments and are not dissuaded at the prospect of making hard decisions about what is important and urgent against a backdrop of limited resources.
  • A good understanding on how to establish and improve a conformance system
  • Experience in digital tools for data collection, analysis, and dashboarding
  • Familiar with ISO 9001 QMS

Like to have

  • You have actively participated in a manufacturing scale-up and know what it takes to transition from prototype, or pre-production to volume production.
  • You have used IPC 610 best practices to inspect electrical and electronic products.
  • You have used collaboration tools like Jira, Slack and relational databases like Quickbase to achieve results with X-functional teams.
  • You have dealt with the limited observability of special processes (welding, coating, metal surface finishing, heat treatment, and etc) and familiar with Destructive and Non-Destructive Testing to inspect results

The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors that may include location, relevant prior experience and/or education, or particular skills and expertise. New hires joining the company tend to be paid within the starting base pay range noted above, with opportunities to increase pay over time based on development of additional skills, competencies, and company-specific knowledge.

This position is onsite at our Menlo Park HQ. The salary will be adjusted to reflect local market conditions based on employee location as well as the experience of the employee. Along with the base salary, Mainspring offers pre-IPO stock options + benefits.
