As a Propulsion Supervisor at Impulse, you will oversee a multidisciplinary team responsible for liquid rocket engines, thrusters, and propulsion subsystems. This position is highly hands-on, balancing team leadership with technical depth.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and mentor propulsion technicians, and operators
  • Assign tasks, set priorities, and ensure projects align with company milestones
  • Supervise design, analysis, assembly, and testing of engines, thrusters, and fluid systems
  • Drive continuous improvement in manufacturability, reliability, and cost efficiency
  • Coordinate propulsion test campaigns (component- and system-level hot-fires)
  • Ensure proper procedures, instrumentation, and safety protocols are in place
  • Support troubleshooting, anomaly resolution, and root-cause investigations

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • 8+ years of experience in rocket propulsion systems (liquid engines, thrusters, or fluid systems)
  • 6+ years of experience in a leadership or supervisory role
  • 6+ years of demonstrated knowledge of liquid propulsion fundamentals: injectors, turbomachinery, ignition, cooling, valves, and fluid handling

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or related engineering discipline
  • 6+ years of hands-on experience with cryogenic or hypergolic propellants
  • Demonstrated experience in a high-volume or production environment
  • Familiarity with aerospace standards (NASA, DoD, FAA, ASME, ASTM)
Additional Information:

Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision & dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan.

Impulse Space’s spacecraft manufacturing business is subject to U.S. export regulations including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
