As a Spacecraft Integration Specialist at Impulse, you will be responsible for leading and executing the physical and functional integration of spacecraft subsystems and payloads. You will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, test, and operations teams to ensure all components come together into a flight-ready vehicle. Your work will directly impact the success of our space missions.

Responsibilities



  • Assemble and integrate electrical, mechanical, thermal, propulsion, and avionics subsystems into the spacecraft structure according to engineering specifications and test procedures
  • Develop and maintain integration schedules, procedures, and checklists; ensure alignment with project milestones and delivery dates
  • Identify and resolve integration issues in real-time, including misalignments, electrical anomalies, or software mismatches
  • Assist in functional, environmental, and system-level testing, including vibration, thermal vacuum, and EMI/EMC testing
  • Maintain accurate integration records, logs, and configuration management throughout the spacecraft build
  • Work with design engineers, systems engineers, and technicians to optimize the integration process and resolve cross-disciplinary issues


Minimum Qualifications


  • 3+ years of experience in spacecraft, satellite, or aerospace hardware integration
  • High School Diploma or equivalency certificate
  • Hands-on experience working with spaceflight hardware in cleanroom environments
  • Strong understanding of spacecraft subsystems and system-level integration practices
  • Proficiency in reading engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and interface control documents
  • Familiarity with tools such as CATIA, SolidWorks, or Siemens NX, and PLM systems
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • 8+ years demonstrated experience with small satellite (CubeSat/SmallSat) or large-scale spacecraft integration
  • 6+ years demonstrated experience with electrical harness routing, connector mating, and safe-to-mate checks
  • Knowledge of environmental testing standards (e.g., MIL-STD-1540, NASA GEVS)
  • Experience working with launch vehicle integration teams or launch site operations


Additional Information:

Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision & dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
