The Propulsion Test Team at Impulse Space is responsible for designing, building, and operating world class test stands to support the development and production of engines and propulsion components that will serve in Impulse’s goal of pioneering the future of in-space transportation. This team is located at the Mojave Air & Space Port which is home to many firsts in air and space development.
As a Propulsion Test Technician Impulse, you will have the unique opportunity to get hands-on with flight assemblies, push the hardware to its limits, and witness rocket engines firing up close and personal! Your daily functions will include test operations to support engine testing, building new test stand facilities, and modification and maintenance of existing test stands.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate, assemble, operate, and maintain test equipment including fluid and mechanical systems Fabrication, installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of fluid system tubing and hardware
  • Assemble, install, and test flight-ready hardware
  • Provide direct test support for rocket engine testing
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, and follow detailed work instructions
  • Effectively troubleshoot problems with test hardware to include fluid and mechanical systems, and instrumentation
  • Maintain tools, service shop equipment, and stock consumables
  • Ensure all services are performed on time, safely, and in a professional manner

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • 5+ years of professional experience in aerospace or other relevant operations or test environment
  • Experience in fast-paced development environment with flight hardware
  • Experience fabricating, installing, and checking out fluid system tubing and hardware
  • Skill in operating and manipulating machinery and various hand and power tools requiring manual dexterity
  • A demonstrated ability in reading/understanding technical drawings, manuals and reports
  • Must be willing to work all shifts, overtime, and/or weekends as needed

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Extreme attention to detail and accuracy while working within a fast-paced production environment
  • Operational understanding of sensor types used to measure temperature, pressure, flow, and displacement
  • Demonstrated experience with writing, using, and updating test procedures, checklists, and documentation
  • Experience operating industrial warehouse equipment


Additional Information:

Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision & dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
