As a Mechanisms Manufacturing Engineer at Impulse, you will work directly on building mechanisms for our brand new Mira v2 Spacecraft. You will work with Responsible Engineers to develop hardware with an intense focus on scalable manufacturing, testing and ensure we help deliver a fully functional spacecraft to the launch pad.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the production, assembly, and integration of spacecraft structural mechanisms for the Mira v2 spacecraft
  • Develop production procedures/processes and manage the transition of parts and assemblies from development to full rate production
  • Influence new product designs with Design for Manufacturability and Assembly feedback
  • Implement design changes, process improvements, and build flow changes to existing products to reduce assembly/fabrication hours and build cost
  • Resolve and analyze manufacturing discrepancies (resolving issues for design, fabrication and assembly)
  • Conceptualize and develop tooling, fixturing, and shop aides to enhance production processes as needed
  • Lead interdisciplinary teams through root cause analysis process to resolve mechanism performance anomalies during functional/performance testing and integration

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor of science degree in aerospace, manufacturing or mechanical engineering
  • 2+ years of manufacturing, fabrication, assembly or testing experience
  • Demonstrated experience authoring work instructions and/or test procedures to build and validate interdisciplinary mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic assemblies

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Master of science degree in aerospace, manufacturing or mechanical engineering
  • 5+ years' of demonstrated experience with spacecraft or aircraft structural assemblies
  • Process development, facility and line layouts, PFMEA, Error-Proofing
  • Demonstrated knowledge of metallic manufacturing techniques, processes, equipment, and other processes such as: machining, welding, drilling, sheet metal forming
  • Demonstrated experience working with data acquisition systems

    Additional Information:

    Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision & dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
