As a Mission Manager at Impulse, you will be directly responsible for driving customer missions and external-facing programs to successful outcomes. At Impulse, Mission Managers are the single technical point of contact for customers from contract signature through conclusion of the program. In this role you will work alongside other Mission Managers as part of the Mission Management team but also interface extensively with other teams, including the Engineering, Mission Operations, and Business Development teams. This is a technical role that involves organizing and communicating technical information to external stakeholders. This role also includes managing the schedule of deliverables to ensure programs stay on track. Limited travel may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all technical communication with customers for assigned missions and programs
  • Manage all communication with the launch service provider mission management team for assigned missions
  • Maintain the schedule of deliverables for assigned missions and programs, ensuring all deliverables to external parties are delivered on time and all deliverables owed by external parties are received on time
  • Lead coordination of major reviews or technical interchange meetings with customers or launch providers
  • Interface directly with engineers to collect technical work products needed for mission execution
  • Assist the business development team in reviewing Statements of Work (SOWs) for prospective customer contracts
  • Assist the product and mission management teams in defining processes and documentation standards to improve the efficiency of mission management activities
  • Occasionally travel to support key customer meetings or hardware integration events (less than 20% travel)

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field
  • 4+ years of experience as an engineer, mission manager, or program manager
  • Experience working on or managing programs for the US Government
  • Ability to communicate technical material clearly and professionally
  • Ability to represent company professionally to external parties
  • Proficiency with planning and managing schedules

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • 5+ years of experience as a mission manager or program manager in the space industry working government programs
  • Active security clearance or ability to quickly reactivate clearance
  • Demonstrated experience working with launch service providers
  • Demonstrated experience working with relevant regulatory agencies
  • Experience in a customer-facing role
  • Demonstrated ability to operate in a startup environment
  • Familiarity with spacecraft assembly, integration, and testing
  • Familiarity with launch operations and/or spacecraft operations

Additional Information:

Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision & dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
