Illumio’s Field CTOs are experts in the fields of cybersecurity and microsegmentation. We work with strategic and enterprise customers at all stages of the customer lifecycle, from marketing and pre-sales through to implementation. Field CTOs help customers reduce risk and achieve their cybersecurity objectives using Illumio’s products and services.
In addition to customer-facing responsibilities, Field CTOs work closely with product managers and engineers to guide product strategy and ensure that Illumio is delivering the best possible value for our customers.
The Office of the CTO and Security team sets the strategic technical direction of the company while keeping both Illumio and our customers secure. Those who join us represent the leader in Zero Trust Segmentation and maintain Illumio’s competitive advantage by exploring new technologies while collaborating with Engineering and Product Management.

The Field CTO role is primarily regional. You will work closely with the sales, marketing, customer success, and professional services teams to support their activities in your region. Marketing and pre-sales activities include: giving webinars, writing blog posts, attending late-stage sales meetings, and helping prospects understand the value of microsegmentation in their overall cybersecurity strategy. Post-sales activities include: guiding architecture and other in-depth technical discussions, providing management and technical guidance to customers on how best to meet their cybersecurity objectives, and offering mentoring and support to the other field-facing teams. Experience in enterprise environments and the ability to confidently guide customers through both the technical and non-technical aspects of their cybersecurity program are essential.
Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent work experience
10+ years’ experience across cybersecurity strategy, enterprise architecture, product engineering
Proven experience in creating and implementing technology-based solutions
Ability to communicate the business value of technology decisions
Ability to operate as an effective tactical as well as strategic thinker and team leader
Excellent communication and presentation skills, including public speaking
Ability to effectively interface with C-level executives in addition to technical staff
Solid understanding of the cybersecurity market in your region, including local market conditions, and the ability to work with Illumio’s local partners driving in-region growth
