In this role, you will develop and execute strategic content marketing initiatives that align with Illumio's overall marketing goals and objectives, establishing thought leadership within the cybersecurity industry. You will create and manage written and multimedia content that attracts, engages, and converts the target audience.

Every day, you will report to Illumio's Director of Corporate Communications and Content Marketing, working with a tenacious team of self-starters, ambitious individuals who are creative, forward-thinking, and ready to make an impact.

To thrive in this role, you must possess excellent strategic and execution skills, demonstrating a deep understanding of content marketing principles and the cybersecurity industry. Your ability to think critically, produce high-quality content, and effectively engage and convert the target audience will be key to your success.

About the Team:

As a Senior Content Marketing Manager, your role is to develop and execute strategic content marketing initiatives that align with Illumio’s overall marketing goals and objectives and establish thought leadership within the cybersecurity industry. You will be responsible for creating and managing written and multimedia content that attracts, engages, and converts our target audience.

This role will report to Illumio’s Director of Corporate Communications and Content Marketing. The team is tenacious and we are looking for individuals who are self-starters, ambitious, creative, forward-thinking, and ready to make an impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Content Strategy- Collaborate with the content team to develop and implement a content marketing strategy that supports the company’s overall marketing objectives. This includes identifying target audience personas, understanding their pain points, and defining key messages and content themes.

  • Content Creation- Create high-quality and engaging content across various formats, including blog posts, articles, case studies, technical briefs, web and ad copy, video scripts, infographics, third-party research, and more. Ensure content is aligned with brand and messaging guidelines and optimized for SEO.

  • Team Mentorship- Mentor and provide direction for other team members and provide guidance and feedback on their work to ensure consistency and quality.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration- Work closely with cross-functional teams, such as product marketing, digital marketing, brand, PR, customer advocacy, social, etc. to align content initiatives with overall marketing campaigns. Collaborate with SMEs to gather insight and develop thought leadership content.

  • SEO and Content Optimization- Optimize content for search engines to increase organic visibility and drive traffic.

  • Measurement- Track and analyze the performance of content marketing efforts in partnership with marketing operations and analytics team using relevant metrics and tools. Make data-driven decisions to optimize content strategy ongoing.

  • Brand Voice and Messaging- Ensure consistency in brand voice, tone, and messaging across all content touchpoints. Maintain editorial style guide to guide content creators and ensure a cohesive brand experience.


  • 8+ years of experience in a content marketing role at a B2B technology company

  • Cybersecurity experience strongly desired

  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, including the ability to both write for a technical audience as well as up-level complex messages to capture the tone of varied SMEs

  • Deep experience in content optimization and writing for a wide range of mediums

  • Meticulous attention to detail and organization skills

  • Ability to work cross-functionally to deliver on measurable KPIs

  • Strategic thinking and experience managing complex projects in a fast-paced environment

Pay Range:

$163,000.00 USD - $195,000.00 USD

The pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, or applicable laws.
