About Halter

At Halter, we’re on a mission to enable farmers and graziers to run the most productive and sustainable operations. Our customers are using Halter to break free from the time-intensive constraints of conventional practices. Imagine watching 500 cattle stand up and walk calmly towards their next break? No quad bikes, no dogs, no fences. Just a group of cattle walking at their own pace. People say it looks like magic. Our customers are revolutionizing grazing with Halter. It's changing lives and transforming an industry. People join Halter to do meaningful work. By joining us you’ll be solving challenging problems within a talented team and a culture built for high performance. Our team out-think, out-work and out-care. We’re committed to delivering real change in the world - this isn’t easy, and in truth, we love that it’s hard.

We’re backed to deliver on a mission that matters by Tier 1 investors including Founders Fund, Bessemer Venture Partners, BOND, DCVC, Blackbird, Promus Ventures, Rocket Lab’s Peter Beck and Icehouse ventures.

Role summary

Drive the process engineering strategy behind Halter’s production system as we scale complex hardware at pace. You’ll set the standards, operating rhythms, and technical direction that help us build reliable products, improve manufacturing performance, and move quickly without compromising quality.

What you'll do

  • Set priorities and strategy across production lines, sites, and product programs, ensuring process engineering is focused on the highest-leverage problems.

  • Define the operating system for process change: validation expectations, readiness gates, documentation standards, and the decision-making frameworks that keep production moving safely and quickly.

  • Drive cross-functional execution on high-impact initiatives, including production ramps, escape prevention, major ECNs, yield improvement, and readiness for new product introductions.

  • Establish standards for process controls, training systems, escalation paths, and factory feedback loops so issues are found early, understood deeply, and prevented from recurring.

  • Own the process performance narrative: where we are winning, where we are losing, what is constraining scale, and what needs to change next.

  • Make clear readiness calls for process capability and control at key milestones, balancing speed, risk, quality, and operational reality.

  • Sponsor complex RCAs and ensure CAPA is effective, verified, and translated into stronger systems — not just one-off fixes.

  • Develop team capability by mentoring, coaching, and setting the technical bar for process engineering across production.

What we're looking for

  • Strong systems thinking and leadership in a high-velocity manufacturing environment where hardware, software, quality, supply chain, and operations all intersect.

  • Someone who can create clarity in ambiguity, align many stakeholders, and turn messy production problems into structured, executable plans.

  • A track record of scaling engineering teams, manufacturing processes, and operating systems through periods of product or production growth.

  • Deep appreciation for quality, reliability, and customer impact — especially the importance of preventing escapes before they reach the field.

  • Strong partnership with Quality on systemic risk, audit strategy, CAPA effectiveness, and escape prevention.

  • Willingness to travel frequently as required (approximately 20%); when you’re the right person to be on site to own a critical change, you’re there.
