About Halter

At Halter, we’re on a mission to enable farmers and graziers to run the most productive and sustainable operations. Our customers are using Halter to break free from the time-intensive constraints of conventional practices. Imagine watching 500 cattle stand up and walk calmly towards their next break? No quad bikes, no dogs, no fences. Just a group of cattle walking at their own pace. People say it looks like magic. Our customers are revolutionizing grazing with Halter. It's changing lives and transforming an industry. People join Halter to do meaningful work. By joining us you’ll be solving challenging problems within a talented team and a culture built for high performance. Our team out-think, out-work and out-care. We’re committed to delivering real change in the world - this isn’t easy, and in truth, we love that it’s hard.

We’re backed to deliver on a mission that matters by Tier 1 investors including Founders Fund, Bessemer Venture Partners, BOND, DCVC, Blackbird, Promus Ventures, Rocket Lab’s Peter Beck and Icehouse ventures.

About the role

Halter is scaling globally, and how we price and package our product is one of the highest-leverage decisions we make - this role exists to own it.

You'll be the authority on pricing and packaging at Halter. You set the strategy, build the models, make the calls, and drive implementation across every market we operate in, and every market we enter next. When leadership needs a pricing decision, they come to you. When Product ships a new capability, you decide how we monetise it. When we enter a new country, you build the pricing playbook from scratch.

This isn't a support function and it isn't strategy-from-the-sidelines. You own the outcome. Build the model, pressure-test it with Finance, sell it to Sales leadership, operationalise it, measure the impact, iterate. Agriculture is seasonal and Halter operates across both hemispheres - you stay ahead of how market dynamics shape what we charge and how we package it.

You'll do it with AI as a core tool. Pricing analysis, scenario modelling, competitive benchmarking - we expect you to use AI to move faster and sharpen every output.

What we're looking for

We don't care where you've come from. Pricing, commercial strategy, finance, consulting, or you were the commercially sharp operator in a scaling company who always gravitated toward the pricing question. The background is irrelevant. What matters is that you understand pricing is a growth lever, not a spreadsheet exercise.

You model fast and well. You can build a scenario analysis that gives leadership a crisp decision, not a 40-tab spreadsheet that requires a guided tour. You think in frameworks but you execute in detail.

You're comfortable pricing into the unknown. When there's no local sales data, you build from first principles - infrastructure economics, market analogues, competitive positioning - and you iterate fast once a real signal comes in.

You work cross-functionally with ease. Product, Finance, Sales, Ops, and Exec will all have a view on pricing. You need to synthesise those inputs, hold a point of view, and drive a decision. People trust you because the quality of your analysis earns it.

What your day could look like

  • Auditing Halter's pricing and packaging end-to-end - identifying where we're leaving money on the table and driving the fix

  • On a ranch in Colorado, spending time with the world's largest stocking operators to understand the value they get from Halter - then building a fit-for-purpose package with pricing, getting it signed off, and implementing it. End-to-end.

  • Building the pricing strategy for a new market from scratch. No historical data, no playbook - you stress-test assumptions, build the model, and make the call

  • Deciding how to monetise a new product feature - does it sit in an existing package, become an add-on, or warrant a new tier?

  • Owning the upsell pricing motion - designing how customers expand their use of Halter over time and making sure our pricing accelerates that

  • Running the quarterly pricing review with the VP of Sales and Finance - here's what the data says, here's what we do, here's the impact

  • Setting the discounting guardrails that keep pricing consistent and commercially sound across all markets

You'll crush this role if you

  • Use first principles thinking. There are no playbooks here. You'll build your understanding of our customer and our markets, then work from first principles to unpack challenges and develop solutions

  • Price into ambiguity. You've built pricing models for new markets or new products where the data didn't exist yet, and you know how to balance rigour with speed

  • Tell a tight story. Whether it's a one-pager or a board pack, you make the complex feel simple and the path forward feel inevitable

  • Model fast and beautifully. Your files are tidy, your assumptions are visible, and your models give clear answers

  • Know how to operate without ownership. The most important pricing decisions require buy-in from Product, Finance, Sales, and Exec. You're effective through the quality of your analysis and the trust you build

  • See AI as a core work tool. You've already built it into how you operate and you’re faster because of it

Bonus points if

  • You've owned pricing & packaging in a SaaS, hardware, or ag-tech business

  • You've worked across multiple markets and understand how pricing needs to flex by region

  • You've priced into new or unfamiliar markets with limited data

  • You've operated in a high-growth company where pricing had to evolve fast
