About the role
We are searching for an innovative, motivated, high-performing Business Development Manager to lead Halter’s growth across the South Island. This is an opportunity to be part of a positive global disruption to our food production system, to pioneer groundbreaking change and specifically to impact the lives of Dairy and Beef farming families in the South Island.
You will be leading the South Island sales expansion for one of the world’s fastest-growing companies by driving sales, leading a high-performing team and working closely with our marketing and growth teams to create and execute go-to-market strategies.

As the South Island Business Development Manager at Halter, you will spearhead the growth of one of Halter's largest markets, to transform the Beef & Dairy industries forever.

What your day could look like

  • Growing New Business: You will have your own region and be responsible for managing sales pipelines through to close, including qualifying, executing a consultative sales process and successfully negotiating contracts with customers.
  • Prospecting: Identify and target key prospect profiles, implementing data-driven prospecting techniques to ensure a robust pipeline of farms suitable for Halter's technology.
  • Strategic Sales Leadership: Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy aligned with Halter's expansion goals. You'll lead and grow a high-performing sales team, providing direction, training and management to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Training and Development: Adapt Halter’s existing sales process to develop and implement training programs for the team, ensuring continuous skill enhancement and alignment with company objectives. Foster a culture of knowledge sharing and collaboration within the organisation.
  • Revenue Forecasting and Reporting: Collaborate closely with the Director of Customer to develop accurate and insightful monthly and quarterly revenue reporting. Provide regular, data-driven reports on pipeline and sales performance to your team and leadership.
  • Growth Initiatives: Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to optimise sales and marketing approaches to growth. Identify and implement innovative growth initiatives to enhance market penetration and accelerate sales cycles.
  • People Management: You will be responsible for a motivated, high-performing South Island Business Development team. You will be leading, providing clear expectations and regular feedback to ensure each individual and the team is achieving their potential.

  • Someone who doesn’t believe in glass ceilings, who walks towards the pressure of large targets and thrives on hard problems.
  • Experience in leading and growing sales teams, owning the revenue engine from lead generation to close.
  • An innovative sales leader, with a track record of executing new solutions to deliver massive revenue goals, by overcoming challenges.
  • Experience successfully executing a consultative sales process.
  • A data-driven leader who understands the nuances of a revenue engine, managing pipeline activity and customer touchpoints.
  • Experience within the agricultural sector is a bonus.
  • A phenomenal attitude and a team player with the ability to consistently overcome challenges.
  • The ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced working environment with a high degree of autonomy.

We do have flexible working hours and you can work from home when you need to but we encourage our team to be in the office as much as you can.
We have an office-first approach because we would like to keep the opportunity for teams to have spontaneous interactions which in turn has allowed our team at Halter to foster strong relationships. Stronger relationships make it easier to disagree, give feedback, do meaningful work and as a result, be higher performing as a team.
This is applicable mainly for our office-based roles rather than on-the-road roles in the Customer Success or Business Development teams.
