Frontier Medicines is seeking a highly motivated individual to fill the position of Sr. Scientist / Principal Scientist to join our South San Franscisco Disease Biology team that is focused on target validation, drug mechanism of action and resistance, cancer biology, pharmacology, and biomarker discovery. The successful candidate will play a leading role in drug discovery projects from target validation to clinical proof of concept.
The Disease Biology Sr / Principal Scientist is a key contributor to Frontier Medicines’ success and will be interacting with senior leaders, department heads and project teams routinely. What will you be doing?
- Opportunity to be a functional team lead accountable for timely delivery of team objectives, collaborating effectively to ensure best practices within disease biology function and across teams. Influence other teams by maintaining communication cross functionally.
- Design, execute, and analyze key biological experimental strategies to define drug mechanism of action, develop novel disease models and biomarkers for target engagement and patient selection with a high level of independence and creativity.
- Lead and contribute to target selection and target validation to ensure the development of a robust preclinical pipeline of valuable drug discovery programs.
- Contribute to project teams and the preclinical development of lead assets to achieve project deliverables.
- Effectively communicate with colleagues and stakeholders; create and present research updates and provide strategic input to team/company meetings.
- Coordinate with external contract research organizations and with other collaborators, as needed.
- Maintain a clear, detailed laboratory notebook to document all experiments and findings.
- Comply with best laboratory safety practices.
What we are looking for:
- Ph.D. in a biological science (biochemistry, molecular biology, cellular biology, bioengineering, or related discipline), with at least 7+ years of relevant post-graduate and pharma/biotech industry experience.
- Experience in cancer biology, working in oncology drug discovery project teams, cancer cell-based assay design, assay development and drug testing.
- Experience with mammalian tumor cell engineering and associated techniques including CRISPR and siRNA/shRNA knockdown.
- Experience with cellular and biochemical techniques, including FACS, ELISA, immuno-blotting, and high-throughput cellular assays.
- Familiarity with targeted protein degradation and cellular assays to investigate new degradation modalities.
- Excellent communication, organization, and technical writing skills.
- Self-motivated and enthusiastic; fast learner who can identify core project challenges and expeditiously change course as required in a fast-paced organization.
- Exceptional oral communication and writing skills.

At Frontier we strive to build a diverse and equitable workplace. The salary range for this role is $135,000 – $190,000. Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including candidates' qualifications, skills, competencies and experience.
