Frontier Medicines is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior/Principal Scientist in Bioinformatics or Computational Biology to join an emerging Bioinformatics group embedded in our growing Data Sciences team. The ideal candidate has proven experience in the analysis of high-dimensional omics data derived from multiple platforms (such as RNA-seq, Chip-seq, WES/WGS, MS-based proteomics, metabolomics, RPPA, etc.) The successful candidate will lead the conceptualization and implementation of analytical strategies and in developing and implementing novel algorithms to further advance our innovative proteome-wide profiling pipeline. This role requires creativity and ingenuity in developing analysis methods, including machine learning/AI type algorithms on our proprietary data to generate actionable insights. Given that our platform is unique and novel, the candidate should also cherish working in uncharted territory and be curious to find solutions where no template exists. This is an exciting opportunity in our Boston site to help making a difference for patients suffering from debilitating diseases. You will be working as part of a highly collaborative and energetic team in a startup environment with short communication lines across functions and departments.

What are we looking for?

  • PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of post-graduate experience in bioinformatics and computational biology.
  • In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in analyzing various high-throughput biological data, such as RNA-seq, WES, WGS, Chip-seq. Experience with analyzing patient level data is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement bioinformatics pipelines, algorithms, and software tools to solve complex biological problems.
  • Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in bioinformatics, such as R and Python, as well as experience with statistical analysis packages, such as Bioconductor, SciPy.
  • Experience working with databases and query languages (RMDB Oracle, MySQL, MongoDB, Document DB).
  • The successful candidate will not only closely interact with fellow data scientists but also be an integral part of multidisciplinary drug discovery teams with the goal to innovate our chemoproteomic experiments and analysis workflows and further advance our proprietary platform in the quest to discover novel and life changing medicines.
  • Familiarity with standard bioinformatics tools and databases (e.g., UniProt, Ensembl, GSEA, DepMap, cBioPortal, etc.).
  • Proficiency in applied statistics (e.g., parametric and non-parametric tests, ANOVA, linear models) and basic data science methods (e.g., anomaly detection, dimensionality reduction) are required.
  • Expertise in machine learning, data mining, and other advanced computational techniques for large-scale data analysis.
  • Experience in advanced analytics and data science methods (e.g. random forest, neural networks and deep learning, Bayesian classification) is a plus.
  • Legally authorized to work in the US.

How will you grow with us?

  • The successful candidate will not only closely interact with fellow data scientists but also be an integral part of multidisciplinary drug discovery teams with the goal to innovate our chemoproteomic experiments and analysis workflows and further advance our proprietary platform in the quest to discover novel and life changing medicines.
