The Plant Manager will oversee the operations, maintenance, and overall management of our geothermal power plant facility in Milford, UT. This leadership role involves ensuring optimal performance, safety, and generation targets while meeting regulatory standards and environmental compliance. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, a focus on sustainability, and excellent leadership capabilities. This position will report to the Sr. Director of Power Generation & Surface Facilities. Relocation assistance will be considered for this role.
Responsibilities
- Operational Management: Oversee daily operations of the geothermal power plant to ensure maximum efficiency and minimal downtime; Monitor and optimize energy generation, including well-field production and plant operations
- Power Compliance: Ensure that the power plant meets the energy generation and delivery requirements outlined in our Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), maintaining compliance with contractual obligations and grid requirements
- Maintenance and Safety: Be accountable and implement maintenance schedules for plant equipment to ensure reliability and longevity; Enforce safety protocols and environmental regulations, conducting regular safety drills and inspections
- Team Leadership: Supervise and train plant personnel, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. Manage shift schedules and ensure adequate staffing levels
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all operations comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including environmental standards. Prepare and submit required documentation and reports to regulatory authorities
- Budget and Financial Oversight: Develop and manage the plant's operating budget, controlling costs while maintaining quality and safety standards. Evaluate and recommend investments in equipment or technology upgrades
- Stakeholder Coordination: Liaise with utility companies, government agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration and reporting. Represent the plant in community and public relations activities. Collaboration with Fervo’s different departments – Dev on PPA, Finance on budget, Resource on Reservoir management, Engineering on performance
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil or related) or equivalent industry experience with a strong track record in geothermal power plant operations, maintenance, or management; Certifications in power plant operations are a plus
- 10 years working in power plant or process unit (complex facilities oil & gas), with 5 years minimum front line supervisor experience
- Strong knowledge of power plant operations, maintenance programs, and production gathering systems
- Safety champion with strong understanding of HSE compliance standards related to plant operations
- Effective written and verbal presentation and communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to influence others and lead teams
- Proven analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously and drive initiatives of moderate scope and impact
- Familiarity with Electrical Transmission & Distribution Systems
- Familiarity with CMMS (Computer Maintenance Management Systems)
- Familiarity with DCS and or other control systems
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in power plant operation as a plant manager (experience in geothermal a plus)
- Six Sigma Certification; Green Belt or higher
- Working knowledge of predictive maintenance tools, automation systems, and continuous improvement methodologies
- Experience with power plant and or process optimization

Fervo Energy is headquartered In Houston, TX with growing offices in Oakland, CA, Golden, CA, Reno, Nv, and Salt Lake City, UT. This position will work out of out Milford, UT geothermal power plant site. Some travel is required. Relocation assistance is available for this role.
