Description

The Geotech – SteamCo will support Fervo Energy’s operations, and reservoir and geological modeling workstreams to achieve our geothermal energy development goals. This position will play a key role in helping us manage operations and subsurface data to make informed field development decisions. Responsibilities will include managing and compiling geologic/reservoir, drilling, completions, production, and permitting datasets to assist the team in operations and characterization of our geothermal reservoirs.

Responsibilities

  • Support Asset Resource team by managing subsurface databases
  • Building and managing Petrel Studio repository
  • GIS map making and management of geospatial datasets
  • Analyze, QC, and interpret geoscience data to inform geologic models
  • Generate maps and graphics to communicate data across functions
  • Mine and load open source data
  • Assist with asset management, resource reserve estimates, and investment analysis/diligence
  • Travel periodically to field sites and Fervo offices (<15% of time)
  • Interface with other departments and disciplines

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in GIS, geology, geophysics, or related discipline
  • 3+ years of geologist or geo technician experience in the geothermal, mining, and/or oil & gas industries
  • Must have experience in Petrel, including Studio management (Kingdom, Leapfrog/Central, or other preferred)
  • Experience in data management and data management softwares
  • Expert in GIS software (ArcGIS, Global Mapper)
  • Experience working with well and seismic data (lithology logs, petrophysical logs, temperature logs, drilling and completions data, LAS files, DLIS files, SEGY files etc.)
  • Deep knowledge of datums and coordinate systems and able to reproject datasets
  • Driven self-starter & team player, willing to plan and execute with little oversight
  • High attention to detail for data management, analysis, and documentation
  • Preferred: Master’s Degree in GIS, geology, geophysics, or related discipline
  • Preferred: Experience in data analytics and geostatistics
  • Preferred: Python coding experience
  • Preferred: Experience with seismic processing/post-processing workflows

Location

This position will be based in Fervo’s Golden, CO office and will be eligible for some hybrid work flexibility, but regular in-office attendance will be required. Some travel is required for this position.

Fervo Energy is providing the compensation range and general description of other compensation and benefits that the company in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and geographic location. Expected Salary: $105,000 – $135,000 based on Colorado locality, pay in other locations may vary.
