Job Description

Role Overview

The Senior Payroll Analyst – APAC is responsible for end-to-end payroll delivery across multiple APAC countries. This role ensures accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing while partnering with external payroll vendors, internal HR, Finance, and Audit teams. The role also drives process improvements, ensures statutory compliance, and supports audits and regional payroll transformation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

1. Payroll Processing & Compliance

  • Manage end-to-end payroll operations for assigned APAC countries (e.g., India, Singapore, Australia, Japan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, etc.).
  • Validate monthly payroll inputs including new hires, terminations, compensation changes, benefits, allowances, overtime, and variable payouts.
  • Review payroll calculations, variance reports, and statutory deductions for accuracy and compliance.
  • Ensure all payroll activities adhere to country-specific labour laws, statutory regulations, and company policies.
  • Oversee payroll calendar planning and ensure strict adherence to deadlines.

2. Vendor & Stakeholder Management

  • Liaise with external payroll vendors for data submission, query resolution, and payroll sign-off.
  • Partner with HR, Finance, Accounting, Benefits, Tax, and Compliance teams on payroll-related matters.
  • Manage service-level agreements (SLAs) and ensure high-quality vendor deliverables.

3. Reporting & Reconciliation

  • Perform monthly payroll reconciliations between HRIS/Workday, vendor outputs, general ledger, and bank files.
  • Prepare statutory filings and monthly/quarterly/yearly payroll reports.
  • Support Finance during month-end close, accruals, and audit checks (internal & external).

4. Systems, Audit & Controls

  • Work with HRIS (e.g., Workday, SAP, Oracle) for payroll data extraction, validation, and integration.
  • Maintain accurate payroll documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and control frameworks.
  • Support internal/external audits and ensure adherence to SOX and internal controls.

5. Continuous Improvement

  • Identify process gaps and drive automation, standardization, and payroll efficiency initiatives.
  • Support regional payroll transformation projects, system upgrades, and new country transitions.

Qualifications

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • 5–8+ years of payroll experience, with solid exposure to multicountry APAC payroll.
  • Strong knowledge of country-specific statutory payroll requirements (tax, social security, bonus rules, overtime, notice period, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience working with global HRIS and payroll vendor platforms (e.g., Workday, ADP, Safeguard, Ramco, NGA, Cloudpay).
  • Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, reconciliations).
  • Strong analytical ability, attention to detail, and problem-solving mindset.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with SOX compliance and audit support.
  • Experience in a global shared services or multinational company environment.
  • Exposure to payroll transitions, process migrations, and vendor implementation.
  • Ability to work across time zones and manage tight deadlines.
