P-138

At Databricks, we are passionate about enabling data teams to solve the world's toughest problems — from making the next mode of transportation a reality to accelerating the development of medical breakthroughs. We do this by building and running the world's best data and AI infrastructure platform so our customers can use deep data insights to improve their business. Founded by engineers — and customer obsessed — we leap at every opportunity to solve technical challenges, from designing next-gen UI/UX for interfacing with data to scaling our services and infrastructure across millions of virtual machines. And we're only getting started.

Our Developer Experience team is dedicated to making Databricks engineers happy and highly productive. We build the tools, processes, and infrastructure to accelerate engineering velocity as Databricks scales. We're looking for an Engineering Manager with a strong interest in building tools to improve the day-to-day experience of engineers at Databricks and a passion for solving hard challenges with pragmatic solutions.

The impact you will have

  • Transform chaos into clarity: You'll dive deep into our development workflows, identify the pain points, and build solutions that remove friction and maximise productivity. Think drastically reducing build times, frictionless development environments, IDEs that just work out of the box for every language, etc.
  • Ship tools engineers will love: You’ll lead the creation of internal tools that are not just functional but genuinely delightful to use. We're talking about innovative solutions that give engineers superpowers, not just another clunky system.
  • Shape the future: You'll play a key role in defining the domain's vision and roadmap, collaborating with leadership and peers across the organisation. You will drive execution to ensure strategic goals translate into tangible improvements for engineers across the company.
  • Build and empower a world-class team: From identifying and attracting top-tier talent to fostering their growth and development, you'll build a team that's not just skilled but passionate and driven. You'll champion high technical standards, implement robust processes and cultivate a culture of engineering excellence.

What we look for:

  • Strong passion for improving developer workflows, productivity and infrastructure.
  • In-depth understanding of the software development lifecycle and challenges faced by developers operating at scale.
  • Experience with building and managing internal developer tools, CI/CD systems, or related infrastructure.
  • Ability to think long-term while delivering incremental, measurable impact. You can balance big-picture strategic thinking with a passion for executing on high-priority initiatives.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as the ability to work well in a collaborative environment.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in leading and managing engineering teams in software engineering organisations.
  • BS (or higher) in Computer Science, or a related field.
