About the Team:
The Future Capabilities group at Capella is a multidisciplinary engineering team responsible for exploring and developing advanced technologies that shape the next generation of our radar systems and products. We thrive on tackling hard problems, balancing rigorous technical work with innovative thinking, and translating research into operational impact. As a senior member of this team, you will be at the forefront of expanding what is possible in radar remote sensing, ensuring Capella continues to lead the industry in capability, reliability, and innovation.

Role Summary:
As a Principal Radar Exploitation Engineer at Capella, you will apply deep expertise in radar signal processing, waveform design, and advanced SAR exploitation to expand the frontier of what is possible in spaceborne radar sensing. Your focus will include SAR autofocus, advanced waveform design, bistatic and multistatic SAR, and the detection and mitigation of radio frequency interference (RFI) and jamming. You will drive the development of algorithms and analysis methods that ensure Capella’s radar systems deliver resilient, high-quality data under real-world conditions.

This senior technical role emphasizes both innovation and execution. You will mentor and guide other engineers, lead investigations into novel radar techniques, and collaborate across spacecraft, payload, and operations teams to transition concepts into operational capability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead innovation in SAR autofocus techniques to maximize image quality in dynamic environments.
  • Design, evaluate, and prototype advanced radar waveforms tailored to diverse mission objectives.
  • Develop algorithms for RFI and jamming detection, suppression, and removal to ensure data integrity.
  • Develop and advance bistatic and multistatic SAR exploitation methods to enhance mission capability.
  • Provide technical mentorship and thought leadership in radar signal processing and exploitation.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to translate cutting-edge concepts into operational solutions.
  • Represent Capella in external technical communities and contribute to advancing the field of radar remote sensing.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated expertise in SAR processing with emphasis on bistatic/multi-static exploitation, waveform design, and autofocus methods.
  • Strong background in RFI and jamming detection, mitigation, and algorithm development.
  • 10+ years of experience in radar signal processing, remote sensing, or related technical domains.
  • Proficiency in algorithm prototyping and scientific programming (Python, C++, or similar).
  • Strong communication skills, with a proven track record of technical leadership and mentorship.
