About the Role

Capella is seeking a Capture Associate to join our growing Customer Engagement team. In this role, you will support senior leaders in identifying, shaping, and pursuing new business opportunities. You will contribute to market and competitive research, development of pursuit strategies, and preparation of client-facing materials, while coordinating across internal teams to ensure seamless execution.

This position is designed for individuals early in their career who are eager to gain experience in capture and business development, strategy, and client engagement. You will work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where your contributions will help position Capella for growth and success across government and commercial markets

Responsibilities

  • Support development of pursuit strategies, capture plans, and business cases.
  • Assist in creating client-facing materials, including presentations, proposals, and capability statements.
  • Maintain accurate records in CRM/pipeline systems and generate regular status updates for leadership.
  • Contribute to proposal development by supporting writing, editing, and compliance tracking.
  • Conduct market, industry, and competitor research to inform growth strategies and identify new opportunities.
  • Coordinate deadlines, reviews, and deliverables across cross-functional teams.
  • Build relationships with internal stakeholders, partners, and clients by capturing notes from meetings and ensuring follow-up on action items.
  • Provide analytical and organizational support to senior team members throughout the business development lifecycle.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Political Science, International Relations, Engineering, or related field with a strong academic record.
  • 0–2 years of relevant experience in business development, capture, proposals, or government contracting.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate competitors, market trends, and teaming strategies.
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong time management and ability to juggle multiple deadlines.
  • Adaptable in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Self-starter who can work independently but thrives in collaborative teams.
  • Passion for space and the technologies that enable us to gain a greater understanding of our world.
  • To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Capella Employees must be a U.S. citizen, lawful U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State and/or the U.S. Department of Commerce, as applicable. Preferred:

  • Familiarity with federal acquisition processes and proposal methodologies (e.g., Shipley).
  • Experience contributing to government proposals or capture efforts.
  • Active security clearance or ability to obtain one.

Compensation

The annual salary range for this role as it is posted is $74,133 - $92,667. The final job level and annual salary will be determined based on the education, qualification, knowledge, skills, ability, and experience of the final candidate(s), specific office location and calibrated against relevant market data and internal team equity.
