About the Role

Capella is currently seeking a Senior RF Design Engineer to join our RF Systems team. In this role, you will be responsible for the planning, design, and characterization of microwave systems for space. As an integral part of our growing engineering team, you will be collaborating cross-functionally with electrical, software, mechanical, and spacecraft operations teams.

Role Responsibilities

  • RF subsystem R&D (amplifiers, frequency converters, receivers, etc.
  • RF system modeling & simulation • Link budget analysis
  • Participate in RF system architecture trade studies
  • Support PCB design & layout
  • Support commissioning of new spacecraft and ground stations

Qualifications

  • BSEE + 7 years related experience, or MSEE + 5 years related experience
  • Knowledge of various RF system architectures
  • Knowledge of component impairments and their effects
  • Understanding of antenna properties and types
  • Experience with simulation software such as MWO, VSS, ADS, SystemVue, etc.
  • Familiarity with signal processing and plotting in Python and/or Matlab
  • Strong verbal and visual communication skills

Preferred Skills

  • In-depth knowledge in at least one of the following areas:
    • Antenna systems
    • High power RF electronics
    • Software defined radios
    • Communications link analysis
  • Space systems-specific design experience
  • Experience with Altium Designer

Eligibility:

  • This position requires special access to conduct the work and requires the selected candidate to be a US Citizen or Green Card holder.

Travel

This role could require up to 30% travel to our Colorado office

Compensation

$175,400.00 - $232,470.00

Salaries will be based on the applicant’s level of experience, education, and specialized knowledge and skills.
