Primary Deliverables
Lead and deliver end-to-end Alation implementations that align with defined business outcomes and demonstrate how effective data management supports strategic goals.
Provide regular, transparent project status reports and briefings to stakeholders, highlighting progress, managing expectations, and proactively addressing potential blockers to ensure timely and on-budget delivery aimed at realizing business outcomes.
Design innovative, scalable solutions and implementation strategies, collaborating with customers to define both functional and technical requirements, while steering them toward efficient, repeatable approaches that maximize value.
Drive strategic customer engagement by conducting enablement sessions, advising on key product features, and ensuring alignment with evolving business needs; provide regular, transparent updates to stakeholders and manage project risks through proactive planning and scope control.
Collaborate cross-functionally with Technical Consultants on metadata ingestion and integrations, and with Sales through pre-sales knowledge transfers to ensure smooth transitions and continuity of customer goals.
Coach and guide project team members, assess deliverable quality, and foster shared learning by contributing to internal knowledge bases, external communities, and product feedback for roadmap development.
Identify and pursue expansion opportunities, uncovering additional Professional Services value-adds that address emerging customer challenges and drive long-term account growth.
Must-Have Competencies
Consulting & Customer Success
5+ years of consulting experience in a lead role, delivering end-to-end software implementations that drive measurable business outcomes, often under tight timelines and budget constraints.
Proven success in customer-facing roles within a software company, with a strong understanding of product implementation, adoption, and value realization.
Skilled at navigating complex customer environments, managing stakeholder expectations, and leading engagements with strategic impact.
Data Management Expertise
Deep knowledge of data governance, data quality, metadata management, master and reference data, and how these capabilities support strategic business objectives.
Experience with Alation or similar metadata management platforms, including configuration, deployment, and integration strategies.
Strong grasp of cataloging practices, data lifecycle management, and aligning technical solutions with business value.
Work Environment & Travel Flexibility
Energized by working in a high-growth, startup-like environment, and are comfortable collaborating virtually across distributed teams.
Willing to travel up to 30% to collaborate directly with customers and internal teams.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
Passionately curious and committed to continuous learning, proactively innovating and improving both personally and professionally.
Stays ahead of industry trends and Alation capabilities to better advise customers on achieving business results through data management.
Nice-to-Have Competencies
Project Management/Scrum certifications (CAPM, PMP, Six Sigma, etc).
DCAM Certification or similar
Fluency in multiple languages
Familiarity with software development, integration, SQL, Python, and APIs
Experience with Business Intelligence tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker, Sigma) and how data management supports analytical decision-making.
