AbCellera is breaking the barriers of conventional drug development to propel antibody-based medicines from target to clinic. We are a team of scientists, engineers, creatives, and business professionals who believe that advancing science enhances lives. We have developed technologies to unlock high-value drug targets, including antibody-drug conjugates and T-cell engagers for cancer, and complex transmembrane proteins for indications such as metabolic and endocrine conditions, pain, and autoimmunity.
We are looking for a highly motivated Research Technician with demonstrated hands-on laboratory experience to join our protein science team that is focused on identifying lead therapeutic antibody molecules for clinical development. You are a motivated and self-directed individual, a team-player who thrives in a fast-paced work environment with multiple competing priorities, and above all, you want to learn and grow with us. This is an exciting opportunity to join one of Canada’s most innovative biotech companies and to contribute to our cutting-edge research supporting the discovery of novel monoclonal and multispecific antibodies for therapeutic use.
How you might spend your days:
- Conducting detailed characterization of antibodies and multispecifics using analytics and biophysics techniques such as ultra high performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC), capillary electrophoresis (CE), light scattering (DLS, MALS), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), isoelectric focusing (IEF)
- Concentrating and formulating antibodies to evaluate their drug-like properties such as viscosity and aggregation
- Actively contributing to assay development and troubleshooting to better understand the developability properties of potential therapeutic candidates
- Planning and executing experiments, either independently or in collaboration with your teammates
- Collaborating with teammates to solve problems, analyze, interpret and communicate data
- Supporting and working with members from various teams to meet project deliverables and timelines
- Growing your technical skill set and engaging in professional development
We'd love to hear from you if:
- You have hands-on experience with, or an interest in learning, some of the following protein characterization techniques: analytical chromatography (HPLC / UPLC), capillary electrophoresis (CE-SDS), light scattering (DLS, SEC-MALS) or related techniques. Experience is desired, but not required; we will teach you!
- You have a BSc in Biochemistry, Biophysics, Chemistry, Structural biology or related degree
- You think critically, are curious, and want to explore new technologies and opportunities to improve antibody characterization workflow and process
- You have strong data analysis skills and the ability to interpret, communicate, and document results to different audiences
- You are a creative problem solver and fast learner who believes in team work to tackle the most challenging scientific problems
- You are self-motivated and have the initiative and drive to meet goals under tight project timelines
- You have excellent documentation, organizational and communication skills with impeccable attention to detail
What we offer:
AbCellera’s hiring range for this role is CAD $53,900 - $67,300 annually, commensurate with your education and job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to base salary, we offer equity, annual bonus dependent on team and company performance, and a 6% (non-match) RRSP contribution.
You will have a CAD $1,500 annual Active Lifestyle Allowance, annual vacation, opportunity for flexible work arrangements, professional development opportunities, and comprehensive health benefits. Scientific and technical mentorship is a priority. And you’ll find we prioritize teams and social groups to build community and connections across AbCellera.
